Getting rid of the IRS will save taxpayers an immediate $12.8 billion dollars.
The annual cost for American taxpayers to actually pay their taxes is “at least $431.1 billion dollars” according to The Laffer Center’s “The Economic Burden Caused by Tax Code Complexity.”
So, if we scrap the existing system and adopt a simple one rate tax with no loopholes or deductions, we can save ourselves $443.9 billion dollars.
Now, if we eliminate the Department of Energy, that’s another $27.2 billion dollars in savings.
While we’re at it, let’s eliminate the Department of Education too for a savings of $69.8 billion dollars.
And the Commerce Department for a paltry $8 billion dollars.
And just for the hell of it, let’s do away with Health and Human Services to save a whopping $76.4 billion dollars.
That’s $660.8 billion dollars…wait, that’s $660.8 billion dollars!
It’s that easy.
